Tara R. FOX, MSN, CPNP, DNP CANDIDATE
I am a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) with a Baccalaureate of Science in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech and Master’s of Science in Pediatric Primary Care from Vanderbilt University. In addtion, I am working on my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Georgetown University and plan to finish my studies in December 2019.
My first six years of practice were spent working as a CPNP in close capacity with an Infectious Disease physician, specifically focusing on post-infectious syndromes and treatment. I then spent time working at KidMed, a pediatric after-hours clinic offering much of what would be found in an ER setting at the cost of a co-pay, where I was able to take on leadership roles, focus on refining my clinical skills and learn the “ins and outs” of practice ownership. In addition, I have been consulting with the University of Arizona Children’s Postinfectious Autoimmune Encephalopathy Center to implement better identification, practice, and treatment of children diagnosed with PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome), PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infection) and Sydenham chorea. Although there is much to learn in this area of medicine, I am focusing my DNP capstone project on improving outcomes for these vulnerable patients.
I am currently based in Indianapolis and happy to be collaborating with Excell for Life, a multi-disciplinary clinic with the same values, mission and approach to health care.
